Safeguarding Awareness Training
The issues facing adult volunteers in keeping young people safe are changing all the time and it is essential that we provide up-to-date training.
It is a requirement for all adults in Scouting to have undertaken ‘approved safeguarding training’ at least every five years and this is monitored at the point of appointment review.
The training obligation may be met through two routes:
Participating in a Safeguarding Awareness Training session run by the County, meeting the objectives and delivered by an approved trainer*.
Participating in the online alternative (see below).
Given the nature of safeguarding, best practice is to attend a face to face training course. However it is recognised that there may be circumstances where face to face training is difficult to access, so the online alternative has been provided to ensure flexibility and accessibility for those who need it.
